A tiny piece of grape is okay, but carrots are better because they are not as sugary and watery as grapes. Yes, gerbils can eat the things hamsters eat.
When feeding gerbils, the most important thing to keep in mind is that sunflower seeds r extremely fatty. They love them, they're good treats, but too many can make a chunky gerbil.
I feed my gerbils commercially prepared mixes, without too many sunflower seeds. If yours has too many, either switch, or pick a lot of them out & keep them handy for treat time.
Food can be served in small dishes sold at stores or made out of small cat food or tuna cans. Some gerbils will dump these over. Just refill it when this happens or, if they do it too often, keep an eye on how much food is in the bedding & give them more when necessary.
If u want to give ur gerbils a treat, try things like Cheerios & Rice Krispies cereals (nothing with artificial flavor, sugar, or marshmallow.)
They also enjoy the occaisional peanut, but those r very fatty. They also enjoy a little apple, carrot, & lettuce but be sure to remove it after 1 day & do not give it to them too often. They also enjoy the occaisionally mealworm but this is unnecessary & I've never done it.
They will eat every kind of fruit except for very citrisy fruit like oranges, lemons & grapfruit. Citris fruits can kill them so be careful. They will also eat vegetables which is required in a gerbil is diet. They can eat cheese & whole wheat bread too!
Gerbils eat a variety of bird seed to fresh sliced carrots.
Good luck & i hope i helped
Gerbils come from the desert and most of their food is dry. Raisins would be safe, but grapes could give your gerbil diarrhoea, so not a good idea.
Gerbils and hamsters eat the same pet shop food mixes, but you need to be careful with wet foods, more so for the gerbil.
Sunflower seeds and nuts in their shells are healthier treats :0)
Hi there, Yes your gerbil can eat grapes but only about a 8th of a grape per gerbil as it is very sugary for them. And a gerbil can pretty much eat most things a hamster can but do not give them mushrooms or tomato leaves as they are poisonous.
hope this helps
