The worst experience I have ever had with my Gerbils is losing a whole litter of pups to a Respiratory Infection withing 24 hours.
My local pet shop had recommended using pine shavings as bedding for my breeding pair of Gerbils. The pups were born & everyone looked fit & healthy until they reached 3 weeks old. Almost immediately, they dropped one by one.
Unfortunately we did not spot the signs early enough to save a single one. Now I use Carefresh & Aspen bedding & have never lost a single pup.
So please if anyone out there is using pine or cedar shavings, stop now because PINE KILLS!!
