If I have two gerbils already. how can I introduce two new baby gerbils

I also had to introduce one gerbil after I'd already had the other, they did not take to one another very well but the best (and only) way I know to do it is through split cage method. What we did was put the old one on one side, the new one on the other, & rotate where they were DAILY, so the gerbils can get used to each others smells. There will definitely be tension right away, but after about a week we were able to start putting them together for a couple hours at a time as long as we were there to monitor them. Once u know there will be no more problems, put them together for good!

Please do not try to introduce new gerbils to an established clan. Even a split cage may not guarantee they will be together. You could have them in the split for a year without them ever getting together.

The best thing to do would be to put the two new babies in a separate tank from your current gerbils.

you could go that so they get used to the other babies. it wont hurt them by being it a litter cage

do the split cage with the two established pairs on each side
after about a month remove the split and watch them carefully, they should be fine but have thick gloves at the ready to seperate fights!

the same thing had happened to me and what i did was took them out of their cages and put them on your bed or make a space on the floor where you can see them and see what happens. if they start to avoid each other try to put them together and if they start to sniff each other do not worry thats how they say :hello: and theyare not trying to hurt each other. i hope this helps

well it depends on gender and just introduce them fo a few hours every day and increasde tht time a bit more each sesion.
